    Anita Lovell, LMHP

profpic-350-100-resAnita-240x300verifiedbypsychtodayAnita Lovell is a counselor in Lincoln, NE with a clinical focus as a pediatric behavioral counselor and parenting trainer.

My clinical area of interest and training is in behavioral pediatric counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy.  I started my counselor career with Behavioral Health Solutions, P.C. in Nebraska City, NE in 2007 during my internship with Doane College.  I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Degree in 2008 and continued practicing in Nebraska City until 2011.  I joined AdultSpan Counseling team in 2012 in order to use my training to promote positive mental and behavioral health to children and their families.

I use skills I have learned from a treatment approach called Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to teach caregivers positive parenting and relationship-enhancing skills.  PCIT also teaches behavior management strategies to manage disruptive behavior, aggression, and it promotes adhering to instructions and family home rules.  This model has been extremely effective in my experience to assist families with every-day, real-life struggles.

Additionally, I have completed training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral techniques, an empirically-supported treatment program to assist children and their non-offending parents during the process of healing.

Growing up in a large family, I enjoy working with children/adolescents 2-18 years of age and their families with various behavioral concerns including:

    • academic problems
    • adjustments (death, divorce, etc.)
    • aggressive behavior
    • ADHD
    • autism
    • child maltreament (abuse, neglect, trauma)
    • compliance with medical regimen
    • depression
    • developmental disabilities
    • fears & anxieties
    • feeding problems/picky eaters
    • habit disorders
    • non-compliance/oppositional behavior
    • pain management
    • parent training
    • sibling rivalry
    • sleep concerns
    • stress
    • thumb sucking
    • toileting/toilet training, etc.
