My passion is to help people examine the blocks that keep them from living to their fullest potential. If you are living with the effects of grief, loss, trauma or unhealthy patterns from past generations, you may hold back in life and end up living in fear. Helping you discover what is under your control, and effective ways to cope with what is not, can bring a powerful shift in perspective. People often find that taking even a small step towards change can bring a huge sense of relief.

Life can present challenges for people with the best of intentions. You may understand the value of living in the present but have difficulty doing so if you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression,  relationship, work or other problems. When you don’t know where to turn or what to do, the future can feel uncertain and overwhelming. Therapy can address these challenges and help you get moving in the right direction again.

I have nearly 30 years experience working in health care settings. Some of that work involved hospice care, which has taught me the value of making the most of the time we have and the relationships we care about. Before obtaining my Masters degree in Social Work, I worked as a Registered Nurse. These combined experiences have given me a holistic perspective and the recognition that physical wellbeing and strong relationships play critical roles in mental health.  During my social work education I was able to work with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse, and to participate on an eating disorders treatment team.  I am aware that many people’s lives have also been impacted by addiction, either in themselves or in those they love, and I am knowledgeable about the principles of recovery and 12-Step work. I value the role that spiritual health plays in many people’s lives, and am open to exploring both traditional and non-traditional aspects of spirituality.

Reaching out for help takes courage, and it is important to find a therapist that is a good fit for you. I recognize that each person’s journey is unique and believe that the therapuetic process involves a partnership where you are the ultimate authority on what you need. I see my role as walking alongside you to provide a safe place where you can be heard and process your thoughts and feelings without judgment.  Feeling better again is possible and can be like opening the windows in spring after a long winter.

If you are ready to begin finding the way forward in your life, call today to schedule an appointment. I currently have immediate openings and evening appointments available. I also offer online booking for easy and convenient scheduling.
