Tom Seguin, PLMHP
Tom Seguin, PLMHP has experience with a therapy style called Parent Child Interaction Therapy. The focus is to help not just create a safe, predictable and loving discipline system for children, but to actually build positive interactions between the parent and child that encourages emotional safety and support.
With teens Tom has a passion for working with young men. He finds that working with teen men means being able to help them to channel anger into self advocacy and learn how to help them “save face” in arguments by learning social skills and language skills. He knows that when depression and anxiety keep men from functioning their best – the frustration can lead to anger and isolation. Tom gives young men a place to be able to get help and be their optimal self.
“Parenting is certainly part of treating teens,” he says. Often parents are worried that the greater functioning of the family will be left out of equation when treating depression and anxiety for teens. He has experience working with the whole family structure. Tom notes, “Even if the goal for the family is to get through dinner without a fight, or to get out of the house in the morning on time – those stresses matter to both the parent and the teen / pre-teen.” He currently takes Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield and has affordable payment-at-time-of-service rates.
