Bullying Trauma
Bullying is something that a devastating amount of individuals suffer through. It can start at an early age. Many parents and loved ones feel powerless to help their children navigate their lives when they are going through this. You may think there is nothing you can do or it is just a phase and it won’t have an effect on your child long term. Unfortunately, this may not be the case. All too often, when a child is bullied, the affects stay with them throughout their life, or traumatizes them, and could cause them to have problems in different aspects of their lives. This may or may not include relationships with others, mental health concerns, work problems, school issues, anger and or aggression issues, legal involvement, etc. You may be noticing changes in your child such as withdrawing from friends, depressive symptoms, stress, anxiety, an increase in anger and/or frustration, a drop in self-esteem, a change in eating patterns, negative changes in grades, and an increase in skipping classes or school, just to name some of the symptoms.
There is help available. There are many things an individual can do to reach out and help their child navigate what they are experiencing. Bullying is something many have gone through and many have dealt with, which means there are resources and ways to help individuals empower themselves to not become a statistic and suffer through lifelong trauma. I am able to work with individuals on finding empowerment and increasing social skills. I am willing, if needed, to collaborate with schools to find a common ground with the help of the parent(s) or guardian(s). I am also able to work with families to increase communication skills. Depending on the level of trauma the individual has experienced, that would be addressed as well. Of course, it would be at the comfort level the individual needs and is ready for.
Are you ready to help your child face their bully/bullies? Is your child ready to increase their self-esteem? Does your child need a boost in their empowerment and ability to stand up for themselves in a healthy way? Success is out there! Call or make an appointment online today!
